He holds 3 Licentiate Teaching Diplomas in Classical, Plectrum and Electric Guitar at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and The London College of Music, and a Diploma in Guitar Performance at The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours, a Master of Arts Degree in Music, a Postgraduate Diploma and a Postgraduate Certificate in Music, and an Undergraduate Diploma in Music at The Open University.  He also holds a Fellowship Thesis Diploma at The London College of Music, and a Fellowship Diploma with Honours in Plectrum Guitar Performance at The Victoria College of Music, for which he performed his own chord-melody jazz guitar arrangements.

 

Lin has a broad range of musical interests and teaches jazz, classical, rock, blues, folk and country guitar styles. He has also written on a wide spectrum of musical genres from opera to the Beatles.

Lin Flanagan BA(Hons), MA(Mus), FVCM(Hons), FLCM, LGSM, LLCM(TD), LGSM, DipABRSM, has been teaching and performing for over 20 years. While maintaining a career in performance, as a born educator he chose to concentrate his studies on refining a teaching style that combines a refreshing down-to-earth approach with a huge wealth of knowledge and a highly polished and successful teaching technique. He is also a fine player.

He has lectured at The London College of Music for The Registry of Guitar Tutors and he is also a former RGT guitar examiner.

 

Since 2000, he has been a ‘Zen Master at The School of Dad Rock’, running the Strugglers group courses at Guitar Weekends Ltd. He has earned himself a place as one of the most highly respected and consulted guitar tutors in the UK. He has been a regular columnist for Acoustic Magazine since 2009, and has also contributed articles to American Profile and Just Jazz Guitar magazine.
